For my graduation project at Bedrijven op de Kaart, I redesigned a web application used by marketers and data researchers to create and download tailored business datasets. The original platform lacked a user-centered design, leading to confusion due to unclear user flows and limited functionality. My goal was to improve both the usability and visual design to better meet the needs of a diverse user base.
Using the Double Diamond method, I conducted in-depth UX research to understand the struggles and needs of both beginner and advanced users. Through usability testing and user validation,
I iteratively developed LoFi and HiFi prototypes. Key improvements included a guided filtering widget for beginners, advanced tools for experienced users — such as a search bar and enhanced filtering options — and a modernized UI with consistent branding, clear color schemes, and improved proportions.
The result is a more intuitive, efficient, and user-friendly web application that aligns with the company’s identity while addressing user frustrations. By keeping the users at the center of the design process, I was able to create a solution that significantly enhances their experience and workflow.
